Extension et restructuration
The existing primary school, a beautiful symmetric model from Jules Ferry period end of the 19th century was to small for the future. We preferred, better then demolish, to renew and extend the existing that was build in the exact linear axis of the Catholic Church behind the bedside. And so behind the existing school, but extending with a wooden linear courtyard to the garden court next to the kindergarten. We used wooden tavaillons for a big part of the facades because of the interest of Anne Sophie for mountain architecture and Charlotte Perriand and to maintain that “savoir faire” in our region. Westhoffen have 3 churches, catholic, protestant, and Jewish since middle age. The well known Debré family comes from here and so Michel Debré, who was at that time president of the “conseil d’état” came for the opening. His uncle Olivier Debré, the master of the lyric abstraction painting inspired me frequently in our epistolary discussions. Anne Sophie was in charge principally on this clever project in an old historic little city center. Westhoffen is the Alsatian capital of cherry and his schnaps called Kirsch…
